I’ve found some accounts on my report that are not mine, can credit report repair fix this?
There are two primary reasons that mystery accounts appear, and credit repair can resolve both cases efficiently, but it is important to examine the situation carefully before taking action to make sure the real problem is being addressed.
File Merger Errors
Another person’s credit file may be merged with yours if there are a certain number of similar identifying characteristics. This is called a file merger error. A common example is that of siblings that have shared the same address, last name, and whose Social Security numbers have some common digits. But it can also happen between complete strangers. Credit repair can resolve this quickly by identifying the issue and requesting that the credit bureau block it.
Identity Theft
Identity theft is a far more serious issue, but there is a credit repair solution that can resolve the problem quickly. Once you have determined that the unidentified accounts are not the result of a file merger error you can initiate an identity theft dispute with the credit bureaus. This involves getting a police report and must be done very carefully, but will resolve the problem in a matter of day. If you are in our credit repair program we will assist you with the process.
